The old behavior was to return None if the URL template was not a string (or not string-like). This was a mistake because a None should never be able to make its way into the catalog. Keystone provides authentication, authorization and service discovery mechanisms via HTTP primarily for use by projects in the OpenStack family. It is most commonly deployed as an HTTP interface to existing identity systems, such as LDAP.
