Currently when these files are opened your editor doesn't know what to do with them. Add #!/bin/bash to library functions so that editors, diff-tools, etc can do syntax highlighting. There are other ways to skin this cat, such as renaming to ".sh", adding -* style editor flags, etc. We had this discussion in DevStack too, and came to the conclusion the simplest thing that works for everyone is to just put the #! at the top.
