"message": "To confirm you suspicion - Ubuntu 24.04 is the base for Caracal already (although Canonical are also backporting to 22.04 via the Ubuntu Cloud Archive), so will be a target for 24.02.\n\nFor Ubuntu 22.04 I was able to convince the Ubuntu Foundations team of the value of providing backports of newer Pythons to 22.04 (rather than newer Pythons just being in the interim releases) - I\u0027d like todo the same for 24.04 to enable easier enablement of new check/gates for OpenStack projects going forward.\n\nI agree that its unreasonable to make Ubuntu 24.04 a hard requirement for the upcoming cycle - but I would also like to help ensure that we have this version of the distro available as soon as possible so that any bug fixing for newer Pythons can be done upstream in OpenStack first, avoiding the need for extended periods with compatibility patches in the Ubuntu packages.",
