Firmware update using 'update_firmware_sum' clean step fails with an error stating that unable to connect to iLO address due to authentication failure. The 'update_firmware_sum' is an inband clean step wherein the firmware ISO was inserted from IPA ramdisk. As part of security fix to ironic the BMC credentials are no more passed to the IPA ramdisk. The attempt to connect to iLO from IPA ramdisk fails. The fix has been made to insert the firmware ISO from the conductor. Overview
Ironic consists of an API and plug-ins for managing and provisioning physical machines in a security-aware and fault-tolerant manner. It can be used with nova as a hypervisor driver, or standalone service using bifrost. By default, it will use PXE and IPMI to interact with bare metal machines. Ironic also supports vendor-specific plug-ins which may implement additional functionality.
