This was messing up the role name in the templates, e.g ansible-playbook -i localhost, role-addition.yml -e role_name=tripleo_foo Generates roles/tripleo_foo/defaults/main.yml with: tripleo_tripleo_foo_debug: "..." Also _skeleton_role_/vars/main.yml contained jinja2 but wasn't being processed. Change-Id: I59cfbf72add30b7d8de2e45262aaa7188ba1cf5d
