Patch Set 10:

I went and reviewed the API documentation and this actually appears to be the expected behavior[1].  Calling getNodeName() on the master returns an empty string.  Given that, I don't think we should do anything special here.  We should simply pass back to the client the return value of the method and let it make a decision.
